Safar to Sun City (Jodhpur)
2 min read

Our Rajasthan Safar was drawing to end with final leg of the
exciting journey to Jodhpur. We boarded a bus for Pali from Abu road. We reached Pali in stipulated time but we had
to kick our heels for the next bus to Jodhpur. At last, the bus drew up before
us but hopping onto the jam-packed Bus was a nightmarish experience at 1:00 am.
Next 2 hours passed standing still & erect in the Bus with no sigh of
relief. At 3am we arrived at Jodhpur Bus Stand. Soon, we booked the Hotel Crown
Plaza online and rushed to the immaculate Hotel via Auto to hit the sack. Morning, I took a look from my half-closed eye to see the
time. Next thing I remember that I arose like Undertaker (*cough*WWE Fan*) because
the clock read 11:00am. WTF! We weren’t on Sleep-vacation so we recklessly
started getting ready for the day. Grudgingly, we gulped the breakfast at the
hotel itself. The bubbly receptionist arranged an Auto-rickshaw for us for sight-seeing.
Our
first tourist spot was Mandore Gardens
and it was breathtakingly cool & refreshing. On the backside of Garden, Shooting
was taking place for some regional Serial. Euphonious melodies filled the air
as virtuoso musicians glued the audience to their rhythmic tunes. Next, we
advanced towards our next Stop i.e. MehranGarh
fort. This Fort seemed familiar and soon we came to know that the Title
Song of Sudh Desi Romance Movie was recorded
here. Then, it’s the turn of Jaswant
thada. It’s a memorial for their leader and nothing special about it except
that it’s a well maintained garden.
And we saved best for the last, Umaid Bhawan Palace. It was a private property so was well
maintained and had a classical facade. Luxury cars of 1940s era were sheer
delight to watch. Later, the driver carried us to the nearby Clock tower to
spend rest of our day. But before dropping us he took us to a shop famous for “Mirchi bda” and seriously it has
picante flavor. Moreover, he reminded us not to miss the “Mawa Kachori” and Makhania
Lassi” that’s in this market itself. So, we took great pleasure in mushy
Kachori & appetizing Lassi. Before
starting our return journey we captured lot of snaps. At 7 pm, we embarked upon the bus to Gurugram.
Reminiscing about our Safar in Rajasthan, I can assert that we
had the time of our lives.
